C hef Michael Lyon growing up, was privileged enough to dine with his family at many wonderful restaurants. His mother always had a garden full of fresh organic vegetables, which they enjoyed as a family. Soon after high school, Michael realized that his passion lied in the kitchen. After studying at George Brown Culinary College in Toronto, Le Cordon Bleu in Ottawa and finishing his schooling in Paris, France, Michael had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe for a number of years. He was fortunate to work with some of the top chefs in the world and during this time, his love for food became entrenched in who he was. Upon returning to Canada, Michael worked in Banff, transforming the culinary scene and was the first chef in history to win back to back Gold Medal Plates, a nationwide culinary competition. He was then asked to film a Food Network show, The Food Network – Chef*off , which was nominated for a Genimi Award for best reality series. Today Michael resides in Kelowna, BC, Canada’s wine country, where he spends his time enjoying the food, scenery and traveling.
